Consultation timeline announced for construction firms who will pay the Apprenticeship Levy

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced that a full consultation with the construction industry on how the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy will work alongside the existing CITB levy will take place in 2017.

Construction firms with payroll costs of over £3 million will be required to pay both levies from April 2017. CITB has announced that they will help these firms to claim back their contribution to the CITB levy through providing enhanced funding for training. Further details of the transition arrangements will be announced by CITB in July 2016.

CITB will also establish a working group of representatives from across the construction industry in preparation for the potential introduction of a new CITB levy scheme in 2018.
